Top 40 Songs of 2012: The Rolling Stones – Doom and Gloom

#Top40Songs2012 by Sam Skilton
Crikey, even after all these years Mick Jagger’s voice and Keith Richard’s guitar riffs are as powerful as ever. And to be precise, it is 50 years since The Rolling Stones originally formed. ‘Doom and Gloom’ was released as part of their new compilation album ‘GRRR’ to celebrate their 50th anniversary. It also features another new track called ‘One More Shot’, an appropriate name given that this may well be their last hurrah. But while hairs have greyed and bus passes been handed out, the Stones still somehow manage to display the exuberance of youth. The playfulness of ‘Doom and Gloom’, and its zombie-packed video, epitomises everything about their journey.
