Top 40 Songs of 2012: The Courteeners – Lose Control

#Top40Songs2012 by Sam Skilton
The Courteeners’ live set at Reading Festival during the summer provided a sneak preview of their new material, and we were lucky enough to be there. It’s catchy, it’s jumpy, in fact, it’s just what we have come to expect of the Manchester lads. Liam Fray’s latest big claim is that his band is currently the best in the world, which may be a tad optimistic. But then again they sold out the Manchester Arena with ease early in December. People continue to bemoan the supposed death of rock and roll, and that we need a big new guitar band to come and take over the world. But maybe they have been knocking on the door for a little while now. ‘Lose Control’ is just a snippet of the upcoming album ‘Anna’, which could yet propel The Courteeners to new heights.
