Top 40 Songs of 2012: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Shoot a Hole Into the Sun

#Top40Songs2012 by Sam Skilton
When Noel Gallagher initially revealed his plans in June 2011 to release two solo albums within two years, the second was set to be a “far out” collaboration with the Amorphous Androgynous (Future Sound of London) psychedelic collective. But following the huge commercial success of his debut alongside extensive touring, this now seems unlikely. This is a real shame. Alongside the incredible Amorphous Androgynous remix of the final Oasis release ‘Falling Down’, ‘Shoot a Hole Into the Sun’ is the only taster of and album which could have been. If the Mayan apocalypse had taken place on December 21st, ‘Shoot a Hole Into the Sun’ would probably have provided the soundtrack to it.
Released: 11 March 2012
Label: Sour Mash Records
