Top 40 Songs of 2012: Graham Coxon – What’ll It Take

#Top40Songs2012 by Sam Skilton
In a year during which Blur endowed us with the serene and elegantly composed ‘Under the Westway’, Graham Coxon’s solo work could not have conflicted much more dramatically. His eighth solo album ‘A+E’ received widely positive appraisal for being as idiosyncratic as the man behind it. The single ‘What’ll It Take’ encapsulates the dynamic synth-pop of the LP. And while it’s not quite natural sounding, its belligerently repetitive lyrics (“What’ll it take to make you people dance”) alongside its creative video make it one of the catchiest tracks of 2012.
