Top 40 Songs of 2012: Wild Nothing – Midnight Song

#Top40Songs2012 by Meka Beresford
Wild Nothing, fronted by Jack Tatum, burst onto the indie scene with their distinct euphoric sounds back in 2009, with a captivating cover of Kate Bush’s ‘Cloud Busting’. Tatum, who started his musical career in bands such as Jack and the Whale, gave us the second album midway through last year. With its strong chord progressions and rich melody ‘Midnight Song’ was the perfect summer song for 2012, and is still crisp for 2013 due to the bands signature lulling synth-fuelled sounds. This ultimate picnic song features as the second track on the album, which has successfully brought together a mix of beautifully sombre lyrics and ambient instrumental to make an utterly refreshing LP.
